On the 9thand 10thof June, we held our next round of players’ and coaches’ courses, this time at St Peter’s College in Johannesburg – and what an exciting weekend it was! Our team of start-studded coaches included former SA women’s hockey players Louise de Jager and Tshoanelo Pholo, former Sharks Head Physiotherapist Ruan Fourie, current SA women’s hockey players Kristen Paton, Erin Hunter and Tarryn Glasby.

Over the two days, girls between the ages eight and 18 learnt valuable lessons, walking away with their passion for hockey fuelled and their skills on track to achieving their potential.

Our Fundamental Players’ Course, saw girls between ages 8 and 11 grasp hockey basics such as team values and core hockey skills, helping them build the right foundation for further growth in their hockey careers.

Our Intermediate Course, made up of players between the ages of 12 and 15, enjoyed working with coaches as they honed in their skills and knowledge on all aspects of the game.

The Advanced Players’ course covered a range of position-specific and technical details of the game, giving players aged between 16 and 18, the professional edge to their hockey careers.

Running concurrently which our players’ courses was our coaches’ course, which provided coaches with the opportunity to watch and learn coaching tactics and approaches from a professional perspective.
